Meaning of “Mcharrabiya”

Mcharrabiya is an architectural element that emerges in rooms on the first floor or higher. It is built of carved wood, decorated and lined with colored glass. A Mcharrabiya is one of the elements of traditional architecture in the Arab desert warm, that appeared in the thirteenth century during the Abbasid era. They were frequently used in palaces, traditional houses and some public buildings.
