Crystal Palace are ready to sack Oliver Glasner in the upcoming weeks if he does not pick up a positive result in their next three or four games, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Eagles held talks on Friday over dismissing the Austrian following the shock 1-1 draw with Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar on Thursday night, before the club decided they wanted to carry on with Glasner, for the time being at least, which was first reported by GIVEMESPORT senior reporter Fabrizio Romano.

The 51-year-old’s future at Crystal Palace remains in doubt however, ahead of the visit of rock-bottom Wolverhampton Wanderers to Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.

Palace Concerned About Premier League Relegation

Palace’s season was thrown into jeopardy when Glasner confirmed in mid-January that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season, when his contract is due to expire.

It’s a tactic that rarely works mid-season, with players and fans alike knowing that their manager isn’t committed beyond the season, and potentially not fully committed in the final weeks of his reign.

Eagles supporters in the away end in Bosnia and Herzegovina turned on Glasner during the 1-1 draw on Thursday, chanting that he was going to get ‘sacked in the morning’.

Steve Parish has stuck with Glasner for now, but according to Nixon posting on his Patreon, the main reason for that is the lack of availability of an immediate replacement for the Austrian at Selhurst Park.

Palace Eyeing Two Premier League Managers

    Andoni Iraola applauds Bournemouth supporters

While there have been heavy links already with Thomas Frank following his sacking at Tottenham Hotspur earlier this month, as well as appointing Gareth Southgate as an interim, the Eagles also have their eyes on two Premier League managers still in jobs, according to Nixon.

Bournemouth’s Andoni Iraola is one, with the Spaniard continuing to impress on the south coast despite losing a number of his best players in recent seasons.

Despite the changes, the 43-year-old still has the Cherries in the top half of the Premier League as things stand, and Sky Sports pundit Sam Tighe told GMS previously that he is the ‘best young coach in the world’.

Iraola is out of contract in the summer though, like another Palace target in Fulham boss Marco Silva.

The south Londoners know that they are likely to have a better selection of managers to choose from if they make a change in the summer, although there are concerns that both Iraola and Silva could aim higher if they leave their respective clubs.

Palace could be forced into a decision earlier than that though, unless Glasner can change their fortunes around quickly.
