Under-fire Chelsea manager Liam Rosenior is being slammed by his own supporters for his ‘deluded’ comments following his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday night. The result means the west London side have now won just one of their last seven matches in all competitions, having also lost each of their last four Premier League games without scoring a single goal.
The decision to replace outgoing boss Enzo Maresca with the former Strasbourg coach raised eyebrows at the time, and Rosenior is already edging closer to what feels like an inevitable sacking unless results improve quickly, and he can steer Chelsea back into Champions League contention. At this rate, though, a slide down to eighth or ninth looks increasingly likely, according to the latest supercomputer predictions.
Rosenior has faced criticism for his interviews and the perceived lack of inspiration in his team talks since returning to English football in January. That scrutiny has intensified again, with his latest post-match assessment prompting strong backlash across social media.

Rosenior’s Oddly Positive Assessment of Man Utd Defeat
Despite all the upheaval around Chelsea’s current circumstances, and the fact failing to qualify for Europe’s top competition next season could have lasting effects on a club struggling to balance its books, Rosenior took on an oddly positive outlook on things this weekend. He claimed Chelsea ‘dominated from minute one’ and they deserved to win. He said (watch the full segment below):
“I can only say what I saw. I felt we were the dominant team from minute one to the end of the game. To lose this game in the manner that we did is extremely disappointing, because we had many opportunities to win the game.”
Asked what he felt is going wrong for his side during a torrid run of form, he then added: “We’re making key errors in key moments, and we’re not taking advantage of the chances we’re making. I’m delighted we have a game on Tuesday to quickly get this out of our system. “
Chelsea Manager Feels Heat After 4th Straight PL Defeat
The backlash to his comments was swift, as one X user remarked: “If you think passing side to side and putting in hopeless crosses is domination, go manage in league one you idiot,” as a second added:
“Just sack him now. These repetitive post-game interviews are so tiring.”
A third wrote: “Condescending, clueless, deluded,” as a fourth continued: “Football isn’t for me anymore if this is what he saw.” Meanwhile, another concluded: “No shame at all. Get out of our club!”
