The UConn Huskies have dropped from potential No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament to likely a No. 2 seed on Selection Sunday.
Saturday’s Big East tournament final loss to the St. John’s Red Storm certainly didn’t help UConn’s case.
At minimum, the loss probably means the Huskies won’t be on the top seed line.
Dan Hurley’s team is likely to be a No. 2 seed, but even that designation was up for discussion on Saturday.
UConn enters the NCAA tournament at 29-5, but four of those defeats occurred in the last month.
ESPN’s Joe Lunardi currently has UConn as a No. 2 seed in his bracket projection. While the Huskies are still capable of winning it all their best, they have shown enough flaws in the last month to be considered a team to fade in the next few weeks.
