Aug. 11, 2026 – A mother has avoided jail time in the fentanyl overdose death of her toddler daughter. Farrah Blair Bates, 25, has pleaded guilty to chemical endangerment of a child resulting in the death of 2-year-old Ariyah Crawford and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. As part of her plea, Bates’ manslaughter charge was dismissed.
Under the plea agreement, Bates was sentenced to 15 years in prison with two years to actually serve in Jefferson County Community.
