“As of now, John Cena vs. GUNTHER is reportedly set to open Saturday Night’s Main Event this weekend,” Wrestle Ops tweeted.
Fans Fume With WWE For Booking Decision
Now, the planning of the match has rubbed many fans the wrong way. A large portion of the WWE audience questioned the scheduling of Cena’s final match and voiced their disappointment in the comment section of the announcement post.
Fans directed their frustration at WWE’s chief content officer and executive producer, Triple H, criticising the unusual scheduling. Many argued that the Cena vs Gunther match should be the true finale of Saturday Night’s Main Event, allowing the Superstar to close out the show in a fitting farewell.
