Antoine Semenyo has named his preferred next club amid interest from Manchester City, Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham, according to GIVEMESPORT sources.
The Bournemouth star is a hot property going into the January transfer market thanks to a £65million release clause in his existing Cherries deal. Coming into effect on January 1, clubs have until January 10 to trigger the clause and secure a deal with the Ghanaian forward.
After a stunning season for Bournemouth in which he scored eight goals in 17 games, there’s no shortage of interest in his services with the 25-year-old now confirming the club which he’d most like to join in January.
Antoine Semenyo Makes Transfer Decision
Semenyo has declared that Manchester City is his preferred next destination, according to GIVEMESPORT sources. It’s claimed that his desire to win major trophies is key to his preference to link up with Pep Guardiola’s squad next month.
All potential suitors have now been informed.
Manchester United have been pushing hard this week and sent a delegation to London for talks, however Semenyo is sold on the Man City project.
It’s understood that City want a winger who will contribute the goal output of a wide forward, while Semenyo is keen to win silverware and play regularly in Europe.
As it stands, nothing has been agreed with many clubs still in contention to sign him.
If Manchester City can pull this deal off, it would be a huge victory for Pep Guardiola’s side. As well as seeing off competition from almost all of their rivals, Semenyo will go a long way to really adding to Pep’s team.
Rayan Cherki, Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden have been in wonderful form of late with goals and assists between them, while Savinho and Omar Marmoush also offer a threat in the final third.
That said, none of them offer the same goalscoring threat as what the Bournemouth star would do. With eight goals in 17 games this season, the 25-year-old clearly knows where the goal is and his presence in the team would be more representive of a wide forward, rather than a winger or a floating creator.
Semenyo would be tasked with easing the goalscoring loan of Erling Haaland and based on his track record for the Cherries in recent seasons, it’s certainly one that he’d rise to.
