Luke Littler was forced to walk away from his post-match interview after winning the Premier League Darts in a hugely emotional moment.
The sport’s two best players once again met in the final of the 2026 Premier League Darts. And Littler and Luke Humphries didn’t disappoint as they put on a thrilling match in front of a raucous crowd at the O2 Arena in London.
Littler came through a last-leg decider to beat Humphries 11-10 on Thursday in one of the competition’s greatest finals.
He averaged 111 and landed a staggering 12 180s, while his namesake finished with an average of 105 and recorded three 100+ checkouts.
At 19, he now holds an impressive eight major titles, including the World Darts Championship, World Matchplay, World Grand Prix, Grand Slam, Players Championship, UK Open, World Masters and, of course, the Premier League.
Luke Littler Breaks Down on Stage as Reporter Stops Interview
After beating Humphries to secure the 2026 Premier League Darts title — the second of his budding career, Littler spoke to Sky Sports’ Polly James on stage.
The Warrington native cut an emotional figure as he reflected on his stunning campaign. In an honest admission, he also admitted he almost quit the invitational event after a tumultuous season.
Speaking to James on stage, he said: “It’s been a rollercoaster.
“The first four weeks at the bottom, on the fifth night won my first night. I had to pick myself up. I think I went to Brighton and had a 79 average.
“It was tough – I was down bad. I’m here with the trophy.”
Recalling his incident with Gian van Veen in Manchester, where they were involved in an on-stage spat, Littler revealed the emotional exchange he had with his partner.
“After Brighton, I think I came off stage and the incident in Manchester. I was sat at home saying to Faith, ‘I don’t want to do it anymore, just the crowd every week’. I said to her, ‘I’m down bad’.”
He was then reduced to tears and walked away from the interview to compose himself. In a classy act, Humphries consoled his rival as James stopped the interview to speak to the world No.2.
Littler, who was still incredibly emotional, later completed his interview with James before celebrating his Premier League triumph.
Wayne Mardle: ‘It’s Not a Rarity for the Premier League to Become Too Much’
Speaking after Littler’s latest triumph, Sky Sports pundit Wayne Mardle hailed the teenage sensation.
He praised the darts star’s mental strength and said it’s “not a rarity for the Premier League to become too much” given the gruelling nature of the format.
“It is not a rarity for the Premier League to become too much. Week after week, it is an endurance test,” he said.
“Sometimes you can feel down and if you feel down, you become mentally weaker.
“We know how strong Luke Littler is mentally but when you are feeling like you’re public enemy number one, you can feel like you don’t want to turn up, but he did turn up and this is now the by-product of turning up.”
