“I Think I Need Treatment: Where Do I Start?” | A #MentalHealthMonday Recovery Education Session
WITH DR. MALASRI CHAUDHERY-MALGERI FROM RECOVERY.COM
Monday, February 23, 2026 @ 11 AM PT
You don’t have to hit rock bottom to pursue recovery in any area of your life, but knowing when it’s time to consider treatment for substance use and understanding what options exist can feel overwhelming, confusing, and emotionally charged. This #MentalHealthMonday session is designed to gently support those of you who are questioning whether you may need more help. If you are seeking clarity about what “treatment” really means, and are considering what your needs, resources, and next steps may be…this session is for you.
Together, we’ll explore common signs that indicate additional recovery support may be beneficial, walk through the full spectrum of treatment options, and discuss practical considerations such as cost, insurance, and accessibility. Special attention will be given to inclusive pathways for people who are underinsured, uninsured, or facing financial barriers.
This conversation is not about pushing one “right” answer; at SHE RECOVERS, we believe in a patchwork of recovery after all. Rather, it’s about helping you feel informed, empowered, and less alone as you consider what support could look like for you.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Identify common signs and experiences that may indicate it’s time to consider treatment, including emotional, physical, relational, and functional indicators.
- Understand the full range of treatment options available, including detox, inpatient treatment, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient programs, outpatient therapy, home-based care, and virtual treatment.
- Recognize how different levels of care align with different needs, life circumstances, and stages of recovery, and why effective treatment is not one-size-fits-all.
- Understand why identity-based and gender-responsive care matters, including how women’s substance use and recovery are often shaped by trauma, caregiving roles, relationships, mental health, and social expectations, and how treatment that acknowledges identity can improve feelings of security, engagement, and outcomes.
- Learn what holistic and inclusive care can look like in practice, including trauma-responsive or -focused approaches, individualized treatment planning, identity-affirming care, and integrative models that support the mind, body, emotions, and spirit.
- Gain a basic understanding of treatment costs and insurance considerations, including what insurance may cover, common out-of-pocket expenses, and key questions to ask providers.
- Explore realistic options for people with limited financial resources or no insurance, including publicly funded programs, sliding-scale services, scholarships, peer-supported pathways, and alternative routes to care.
- Feel more confident taking the next step, whether that means seeking an assessment, asking for help, having a conversation with a loved one, or simply gathering more information.
Join us LIVE for a Q & A session following the presentation.
